Tina Adovasio: Mother Missing From Bronx, NY(FOUND)

Edwin Coello, an ex NYPD officer, claims, "he doesn't know where she is."  He is referring to his estranged wife, and mother of his 5 year old daughter, Tina Adovasio, who has been missing from Bronx, NY since Friday, March 11, 2011.

According to the NY Daily News, Edwin Coello has a long history of domestic violence charges, and was fired from the police force in 2000 for violence against his first wife.  As usual, history in violent homes repeats itself, and his marriage to Tina Adovasio was no exception.  Records show that Coello was charged several times with violence against her, and just last month Tina filed for divorce, obviously without a secure plan in place for her safety.

Tina Adovasio, a 40 year old nurse, is the mother of four children, who her own mother, Adrienne Susco, is quoted as saying, "He lied and told the cops she had run off before and left the kids," Susco said. "Never, ever would she leave her children."  As in just about all other cases where a mother goes missing, a family member makes this statement.

Coello has been questioned by authorities, but denies any involvement with Tina's vanishing; he has retained a lawyer, spurring investigators to take out a search warrant for his car which he refused to allow them to search voluntarily.

Coello admits to having an argument with Tina the night she disappeared, but says that she stormed out of their apartment, leaving everything behind, including her children.  The most incriminating piece of information has been a blurry tape of Coello dragging a large duffel bag from the home, reportedly "large enough to contain a body."

The ingredients are all there, once again, for the stew that many missing mothers find themselves in.  A past history of domestic violence, so bad that they interfered with his job as a police officer, a wife that had had enough and boldly made plans to end the relationship, and the fact that he was the last person to see her, all adds up to a presumption of guilt.  Although not yet charged, nor convicted, and ultimately presumed innocent, Edwin Coello joins the ranks of Scott Peterson, Mark Hacking, Drew Peterson, Shon Pernice, and recently convicted murderer, Doug Stewart, as another man who thinks his wife just "ran off."

Another family is devastated by the not knowing where their loved one is, along with four children who deserve to know what has happened to their mother.  Of course, hope is always there that she is found alive, perhaps safely escaping the anger and wrath of a man who's repeatedly beaten and abused her.

Tina Adovasio is described as 5-foot-5 and 135 pounds with a slim build. She was last seen wearing a black jacket, blue jeans and Ugg boots.
Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 1 800 577 TIPS (8477). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website.

If you are reading this and find yourself in a similar situation, know that there are measures you must take before announcing the end of your relationship.  These safety precautions can be found in the book, "Time's Up: A Guide on How to Leave an Abusive and Stalking Relationship" by Susan Murphy Milano.  Don't take things into your own hands without expert guidance.

Body found in woods may be missing nurse Tina Adovasio

March 17,2011

A body was found in the woods near Mohansic Golf Course in Yorktown and a law enforcement source told The Journal News that police believe it is that of Adovasio, 40, who went missing Friday.

A New York Police Department spokesman confirmed that belief but referred questions to Yorktown police.

Body of missing Bronx mom Tina Adovasio found in woods; husband expected to turn himself in

Investigators identified the body of Tina Adovasio through photographs and a tattoo after she was discovered off the Taconic Parkway in Yorktown Heights, the sources said.

The medical examiner hadn't yet determined the exact cause of death, but sources said investigators believe the 40-year-old was choked to death.

Teenagers riding all-terrain vehicles found Adovasio's body in a wooded area about 100 yards off Baldwin Road and reported it to police at 5:53 p.m., police said.

Edwin Coello, 40, whose marriage to Adovasio was marked by bouts of domestic violence, was expected to turn himself in to authorities Thursday morning, law enforcement sources said.

'He hit me too': Ex partner of 'violent' former cop who is 'person of interest' in wife's murder speaks out

March 20
A former girlfriend of the 'violent' ex cop who is a 'person of interest' in his wife's murder has come forward saying he used to beat her too.

Glory Perez was with ex-NYPD officer Eddy Coello for three years in which time she says he used to beat her 'with balled fists' and even threatened her with a gun.

Shockingly, she said: 'He would point the gun to my head and look me in the eye and say, 'Today you are going to die. 'I would beg for my life.'

Days After Discovery Of Wife's Body, Ex-Cop Arrested

March 22

A former NYPD housing officer was arrested today, the same day as his estranged wife was being buried in Putnam County. What Eddy Coello, who had a history of terrorizing Tina Adovasio as well as a previous girlfriend, was charged with is unclear, but according to the Post, "A team of eight plainclothes cops hustled a handcuffed Coello out of a side entrance to and brought him to the back seat of an unmarked car with tinted windows and drove off." And a law enforcement source told the Daily News, "It was just a matter of time. Outrageous he ever wore a badge."

Stacy Peterson: A Birthday Wish

Today, January 20, 2011 marks Stacy Peterson's 27th birthday.  Our hope is that her children, family and friends have the opportunity to remember her for the love and kindness she brought into their lives.

What makes Stacy Peterson so special that she has garnered the attention most missing person's families could only hope to get. Could it be the fact that so many women can identify with her circumstances? We live in a world filled with flaws and yet we only seek the love and security that Stacy once had.

There are thousands that have been drawn to this case for a variety of reasons, and some have drawn on their passions and life experiences to try to solve the puzzle of why Stacy would walk away from her children, her nice home, and the lifestyle that she enjoyed. This is what her husband would like us all to believe, and yet, as women, we know better.

Whatever the reasons for the fascination behind the Stacy Peterson case, she is first and foremost a missing mother with children who need to know the truth. They need, and will continue needing, to know that she did not abandon them.

Everything happens for a reason, but too often, we want the reasons revealed before the "happenings" happen. So many unanswered questions swirl around this case, but in perfect order, and in perfect timing, they will be answered and truth will be uncovered.

May we remember Stacy today with dignity and find a way to honor her and bring comfort to her family that misses her so much.

I miss thee, my Mother! Thy image is still

The deepest impressed on my heart.

Shon Pernice: Right Where We Want Him

Shon Pernice is finally behind bars, charged with the murder of his wife and mother of his children, Renee Perince, whose body has yet to be found.  Renee went missing in the dead of the night a year and a half ago, leaving behind two small children which she adored.  Shon has always claimed that she just left, but, as those who look into these cases of missing mothers know, that scenario is highly unlikely.

The fact that Renee has been murdered is one that her family has come to terms with, however, there has been no resolution for them because of the fact that she has not been found.  Many cases are successfully prosecuted without a body based on the evidence surrounding the investigation.  Just as in another high profile case, the disappearance of Stacy Peterson, we can hold out hope to their families that justice will be served.

But, is that enough?  Is justice served for them if they still don't know where her body is?  No, it's not, and we can only believe that someday these murdering fathers will grow a conscience and lead the family to their missing loved one in order for them to have some finality, some peace of mind.
"I'm very happy that we've gotten to this point," Renee's mother Linda Lockwood said. "Hopefully we'll get justice for Renee because that's what we've always wanted."
Another family eagerly watching the proceedings surrounding Shon Pernice's arrest is the family of Star Boomer.  Boomer went missing after an altercation in a bar in 1999 and one of the last persons to see her there was none other than Shon Pernice.  Star Boomer was recently in the news when a barrel with a female body was found in Kansas City and hopes were up that it was Star.  It was not.

Like his counterpart, Drew Peterson, who is also in jail charged with murder of his third wife, Kathleen Savio, Shon will most likely not be forthcoming with information anytime soon.  As in most cases such as this, they "lawyer up" and start the long, tedious process of a trial, costing us all millions,  but worse, re-victimizing a family who must live through it in a glass bowl.  As this progresses they will be the ones in the courtroom every day listening to any and all testimony, and being forced to relive the pain.

The other side of the story, and a side that isn't addressed often, is the fact that there are children now growing up without either parent.  While I'm sure they are well taken care of by loving grandparents, they still have so much to deal with as they grow up.  To experience the questions surrounding the loss of their mothers, and now the incarceration of their fathers, is not a normal part of childhood, and not something any child should have to be put through.  There are no support groups and associations available to take care of their upcoming needs, other than years of expensive therapy, unaffordable by most.

In the days ahead, we will be watching and waiting, along with these families, for the day their nightmares end.  But, keep in mind, those nightmares will only end when their loved one is found and properly put to rest.

Stacy Peterson, We Remember You

Long before Peace4 the Missing was organized the news broke about a young mother who went missing in Bolingbrook, IL. Her name is Stacy Peterson. Almost 2 years have passed since that day in October, 2007 and many, many more news stories have, and still are, being discussed about what may have happened to Stacy.

Tons of people gathered at various forums and message boards to talk about the latest news, speculate on what happened, and, unfortunately, pick apart every aspect of the lives of those involved. Several blowouts occurred, other splinter forums were created, and the circus surrounding Stacy Peterson was led by the ringmaster, her husband.

As we near the two year anniversary of Stacy's disappearance, I would hope that many of the circus performers have cleaned off their clown makeup, that hurt feelings have been mended, and that the microscope of speculation has been put away.

In 2007 Stacy was a rally point for passionate people who came together in her honor, many have scattered all over the internet and many have started new, successful ventures that probably would not have happened if it weren't for Stacy Peterson.

October is also Domestic Violence Awareness Month. As the internet has grown to bring us information in a flash, it's also come to be a way for all of us to communicate and pass on information and search for solutions. As we use this October to honor Stacy Peterson, to remember her, we also would like to take this opportunity to rally around this awareness campaign.

On Saturday, October 24, several local area people will be partnering with Guardian Angel Community Services for a 5K walk to raise funds to continue their services to victims and families of domestic violence. We have set up a team, "Angels For Stacy" partnering with Peace4 the Missing to give everyone an opportunity to participate.

If you are nearby, we hope you will walk, if you aren't, we hope you will help with support, sponsorship, or donations, if you can. Please join our Team and show your support for Stacy Peterson, ALL missing persons, and the victims of domestic abuse. It's FREE to join and be a member!

Shon Pernice: Slow Burn

Kansas City Star Reports:

“I will kill them,” authorities quote Pernice as saying. “I am now prepared to protect myself.”

Moments later, authorities said, one of Pernice’s sons is heard saying, “Dad, you are too mad. … Let me talk. Put the knife down.”

Pernice says: “I am prepared to protect myself. The blades are going to start going. It is bad.” ............(from 911 call)

Who would say this? Someone who isn't afraid to hurt, maim or kill, even in front of his own children. This is part of the 911 call to authorities made by Shon Pernice, "person of interest" in his wife Renee's vanishing. Arrested again, it seems Shon is on a slow burn and feeling the squeeze!

"Shon Pernice now faces two counts of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child and two counts of witness tampering in the July 4 case. He was taken into custody Thursday at his home. "
The 911 recordings show that Pernice was “highly intoxicated and completely out of control,” court records say.   (from Kansas City Star)

Time is still ticking away and Renee Pernice is still missing. Her family has filed with the court to gain custody of her two sons and get them into a safer, more stable environment. These children may very well have witnessed or at the least have knowledge of what has become of their mother. For them to continue to be in the custody of a "person of interest" baffles me and has shades of Drew Peterson all over it. Just as in that case, what will become of these children?

Whether these two fathers are found guilty or not, they should be doing everything in their power to shield the kids from the negative attention they are bound to be getting. There should be something in place that will protect the fragile psyches of children in these circumstances and intense therapy ordered to guide them through. Yes, I know, he is innocent until proven guilty, however, the children are innocent bystanders to the possible crimes of their fathers.

Hopefully the next time I see a news report about Shon Pernice, he will have squeezed out the truth and Renee will have been found. In the meantime, I can only hope that Renee's children will somehow find their way.

And while the authorities have him in custody, don't forget to ask him about STAR BOOMER, another woman that was in Shon's company and has never been seen again.

Kellisue Ackernecht, What is Happening?

Reading around the various websites and blogs for current information about Kellisue Ackernecht brought me to a wide range of sites.  The friends and family are doing all they can to create "buzz" throughout the internet to bring awareness to the fact that Kellisue is still missing.  There are astrology sites, dream sites, and a myriad of bloggers and writers who have done their best to tell Kellisue's story and keep her name in the forefront.

Kellisue's case isn't very different from several other missing mother's cases, filled with frustration and brick walls. Other similarities include investigating the husband, but in this case local Johnstown law enforcement has stated that Jayson Ackernecht is not a person of interest nor a suspect in Kellisue's disappearance.  In fact, Jayson has told reporters the same thing Drew Peterson claims, that she ran off with another man, and like Drew Peterson, it seems Jayson is taking steps to move on with his life.

Although there aren't any hard and fast rules on how long a grieving husband of a missing wife or partner must wait before pursuing other women, in the case of both of these "left behind" mates, there seems to be a quick return back into the game.  Jayson has been found on the internet looking for love, in the same way Drew Peterson was trolling the singles sites.  Normally I wouldn't give much credence or interest to rumors about this, however, Jayson hit on one of my friends!  Strange, but true!  Just a little "come on" but enough to put up huge red flags about his motives, at least for me.

Of course, comments and sites have been taken down, but what you have to remember is once it's out on the big world wide web, it's there forever, there are no do-overs or take-it-backs.  So it doesn't surprise me that there is a site devoted to calling out Jayson Ackernecht and reporting on all his internet adventures.

Before I get too far into the saga of Jayson, I'll pull back and bring the focus back to where it should be, on Kellisue Ackernecht.  Logic and critical thinking, along with hours of reading and researching, tells me there is much more for law enforcement to do before Kellisue is found.  By all the accounts I've read about this case it appears unanimous that Kellisue would never leave as her husband wants us to believe.  She was a concientious mother, a hard worker, and not someone who would abandon her daughter.

Something sinister happened the night of September 30, 2008.  Cars don't just spontaneously combust, destroying evidence, and the driver disappear into thin air.  I, along with many who care, implore the Johnstown Police Department to do everything in their power and resources to fully investigate this case.  Help to bring resolution and answers to a little girl who will spend the rest of her life searching for the truth about her mother.

Listen for up to the minute information about this case, Tuesday, May 26, at 11PM EST on BlogTalk Radio.

The Justice Interrupted Investigates Team will be discussing this case and bringing more awareness to missing mother, Kellisue Ackernecht.

Kathleen Savio, Justice Vanishing

As her white casket was pulled from the ground on November 17, 2007, questions arose concerning her "accidental" death, drowning in her own bathtub. Her peaceful rest was disturbed by questioning, probing and sampling. It would mark the beginning of a spotlight that has not shone on Kathleen Savio and the circumstances of her death, nor the two boys she left behind, but on her ex-husband, Drew Peterson, and the three ring circus he has created, basking in every minute of the limelight and insisting on his innocence.

Kathleen's last day on earth was March 1, 2004, not a date that too many are remembering these days, as her death has been overshadowed by news of Drew's fourth wife, Stacy Peterson, and possible fifth, fiancee Chrissy Raines, but the Savio family continues to mourn and seek justice on her behalf. Little did they know, but suspected, that their beloved "Kitty" did not die accidentally, and, as a new investigation has reported, she was a victim of homicide.

Kathleen lived with and reported many beatings, threats and petitioned for Orders of Protection. Police were called to her home several times, many reports were take, but many were not. She went so far as to write to the Illinois States Attorney describing what would happen to her according to the threats she was receiving. She laid it all out describing in detail what was happening in her life and the lives of her children, and what was going to happen to her next. Kitty eerily knew she was going to die, and die at the hands of her ex-husband, according to her letters and petitions. Please take the time to read for yourself the words she wrote predicting her fate.

But where is the proof? Was Drew Peterson responsible for her death? A Grand Jury in Will County, Illinois has been probing into this for over a year and still no arrest has been made. Was Drew Peterson, as a veteran Bolingbrook police officer, able to conceal every piece of evidence of a crime scene? It's a very real possibility that he will never be charged, never found guilty, never be sentenced, and although the mother of two of his children has been gone for five years, circumstantial evidence and the layout of Kathleen's letters must not be good enough to arrest or convict.

It's hard to find accounts of Kathleen before her connection with Drew, but I am assuming she, as other of his wives, thought she had found what she was looking for. A nice home, two children, nursing school, a police officer husband, all look like a positive lifestyle from an outsider's viewpoint. However, Kathleen, as so many others, was living a nightmare behind closed doors, the dirty little secret of domestic abuse hiding behind the policeman coward's badge.

As many before, and many will again, Kathleen lost her life.

She had no safety strategy plan set in place to get out of this marriage with her life. Police officers are trained in crime scene evidence, in how to use weapons, and, in a lot of cases, how to cover up a crime committed by one of their own. It seems that the circumstances Kathleen predicted five long years ago have come true. In her words she stated that he threatened to kill her and no one would suspect. So far, Drew Peterson was telling the truth.

May the Savio family and the children of Kathleen and Stacy know that there are many, many out here that have not forgotten, that wish to see justice served, that continue to keep the memory of Kathleen as a woman and a mother alive and not just yesterday's news article about the "puppetmaster", Drew Peterson. May Kathleen rest assured that many are concerned for her children and only want what's in their best interest.

Peace to you, Kathleen.

Shon Pernice, Looking for a Life Partner!

It's been recently reported that Shon Pernice put up a profile with the online dating service "Plentyoffish" listing himself as "divorced" and looking for a "life partner." He mentions his children, born to his missing wife, Renee Pernice. Is he trying to find a mother for his children or a companion for himself with his wife vanishing just a mere 8 weeks ago?  Of course, he has since deleted his membership, but obviously he's announcing that he is available!

Since local Kansas City prosecutors have declared that Renee is dead and her case is now being investigated as a homicide, wouldn't Shon garner a little more of a potential partner's sympathy if he listed himself as a widower instead of divorced? Even Drew Peterson is able to find love by playing that game.

Shon Pernice is being looked at closely in his wife's death, and also the disappearance of Star Boomer, a woman who vanished from a bar ten years ago after being beaten, drugged and dragged out by, some say,  Shon Pernice. Of course, nothing has been proven, Mr. Pernice has not been charged, arrested, nor convicted.

But now we see that Shon most certainly is following the pattern of other high profile missing mother cases, Scott and Drew Peterson, who both were actively having relationships with other women before their wives were found. None of these three, and many others, have ever taken one minute of their day to search for their lost wives, the mothers of their children. They have all turned the corner on that chapter of their lives and found that there are women out there willing to be with them.

But what about the children? What about the family members who are living in a state of panicking limbo? Renee Pernice's father has pleaded several times for any clues that would solve the question of his daughter's disappearance. Like many of us, he is outraged and disgusted by the latest news of Shon Pernice looking for love!

"I think any concept of Shon being on a single's Web site, and particularly announcing himself as being divorced, is just disgusting and appalling," said Rick Pretz, Renee's father.

Like the Petersons above, Shon Pernice's behavior is puzzling to most. How can a man just erase the memory of a missing wife and mother? These three, as well as many others, seem to have absolutely no conscience and have blocked out anything to do with their wives, however, what about the children? By all accounts, the four children of Drew Peterson were quite close to missing wife, Stacy Peterson, two of them the children of dead mother, Kathleen Savio. It's also been reported that the children of Renee Pernice were "her life" and she took her role of motherhood quite seriously.

What kind of propaganda are these fathers feeding the children? Drew Peterson and Shon Pernice have both limited and controlled the children's visits with family members of their missing wives. From the outside, it looks like they keep a pretty tight rein on the children's activities and who they are in contact with. How can these children deal with the questions they must have and what kind of permanent emotional damage will they have to deal with in the future? How can they be expected to live their lives without the touch and the voice of their mothers?
Shon Pernice and Drew Peterson most likely have silenced those voices and have made up something plausible and believable to their young children, but there are those who are able to recognize certain signs and behaviors from these types of men. There are some who have actually survived leaving a relationship with these types of men and will tell you they are lucky to be alive.

Renee Pernice only has the voice of outrage from her family and the public. We can only hope that law enforcement will be able to find Renee, connect the dots, and find the evidence that will show who caused her vanishing and solve the mystery for the sake of her children. They deserve to live on with the truth.

Please be part of the effort to keep Renee's story in the forefront until she is found. If you have any information about the mysterious truck seen in the vicinity, please come forward. If there is any information at all you might have concerning Renee please call Crimestoppers at 816-474-TIPS.

The Choice, Divorce or Murder?

When I followed the Scott Peterson case I was drawn to the fact that this man showed no emotion before and after his trial. His eyes were "dead" and hollow and he kept that blank look that was there from the beginning when Laci Peterson and her unborn child, Conor, first went missing. What was he thinking? What was behind that blank facade? How could he just go on living like nothing happened and start another relationship? After reading the book authored by Marilee Strong, "Erased", I came away with a clearer picture of the psychology involved in why men can "erase" their partners and sometimes even get away with it.

Lately it seems we have many more names to put on the list of cases covered in Marilee's book. Since I live in the Carolinas, those cases stand out in my mind, Janet Arbaroa, Michelle Young, Kelly Currin Morris, Carol Batten Dowless, and I'm sure there are more. Some of these spouses will get away with murder based on past cases, such as Peggy Dianovsky and Toni Bachman. Some of these spouses have confessed, some haven't been charged, but in each case there is a pattern that presents itself.

*Charm turns to manipulation and deceit.
*A pattern of control issues
*Escalation of domestic violence.
*The beginning of the end of the relationship.
*Woman goes missing.

As a follower of true crime for many years on several online forums and blogs, it's almost too easy to follow this pattern and accuse the spouse. My fellow sleuthers are not often wrong and follow these cases with diligence. The inconvenience of a divorce with the possibility of child support payments, the loss of control of the relationship, and an escalation of violence, moves these men into the realm of murder. It's also clear, in several cases, that he moves on with his life, remarries, has more children, and the missing woman is no longer spoken about, she has been "erased" for all intents and purposes, from the lives of her children and her family.

While Marilee Strong goes into great detail about every psychological aspect of these men, my concern is for the children that have been left behind. Their mothers have been literally erased from their lives, but the bond will always be there somewhere. The children left behind will always be searching, always carry the burden, and sometimes be brainwashed by the murdering spouse to forget and move on. What are the long term affects for these children, who many times witness acts of violence in the household? How can the cycle of violence ever be broken?

The words emotionally spoken by Sharon Rocha at the trial of her son-in-law Scott Peterson ring so true now as they did then. "Divorce is always an option, you didn't have to murder her!"

To this type of man, divorce is not an option. He will murder before he gives up any control, any money, and anything of his own. Mothers vanish every day, some we hear about and some we don't. Someone is getting away with murder in this country right now and there is no remorse, no empathy, no mourning, no signs whatsoever of an emotional loss. Most importantly, there are children who have questions, who have lost a mother, and will never see her again, she has vanished.

In Honor of Stacy Peterson

Today marks the one year anniversary that a young mother from Bolingbrook, Illinois vanished. It has been a year of turmoil for everyone surrounding this case, but what will we remember about the year that has passed? It is a day of reflection and also another day marked by the hope that she will return.

Maybe Stacy has inspired something in the women involved in her case every day online. Some are inspired to carry on in her name, continue to search for her, and have an honest concern for her children. Other women, and men, have decided to unearth anything that shows the ugly side of human nature connected to her disappearance.
