Dawn Meree Boothe and Three Children Missing From Shallotte, NC

A woman and her three children have been reported missing from Shallotte, North Carolina.

Dawn Meree Boothe, 22, and her three daughters, Hailey Hane DeCaire, 6, Izabelle Maree Kay Boothe, 3, and Annabelle Rosemeree Booth, 2, were last seen on Friday, according to the Brunswick County Sheriff's Office.

Bryan Boothe, the father of the children and husband to Dawn Boothe, reported them missing.

The sheriff's office said they could be in the company of Don DeCaire, Dawn Boothe's father, heading to Michigan.

Dawn Booth has a tattoo of the sun with the words Bryan and Dawn on the upper part of her right arm and a tattoo of "BRB" on her left forearm.

Annabelle Boothe has a scan under her left eye and Hailey DeCaire was last seen wearing blue jeans, a pink shirt, a pink winter coat and black tennis shoes.

Anyone with any information on them is encouraged to contact the Brunswick County Sheriffs Office.

Caroline Thomas and Her Two Children Missing From Oklahoma City:FOUND

  

When her common law husband returned from a trip to WalMart, Caroline Thomas and her two children,  7-year-old Gabriel Thomas and 2-year-old Danny Williams Jr. were gone.

Details are sketchy at this time, Caroline Thomas and her children have been missing since Friday, December 3, 2010 when it's reported that the common law husband found the house empty when he returned.


Reports say there was no sign of struggle at the home in the Northwest section of Oklahoma City, OK, however, it's also reported that Thomas did not have a vehicle.


At this time there are more questions than answers, such as how did a woman and two children vanish without a vehicle?  Reports haven't disclosed whether her purse, cell phone or belongings are at the home or missing also.


Now that it's Monday, will little 7 year old Gabriel show up for school this morning?  Could this just be a weekend getaway for Caroline and her children?  Is the relationship with the common law husband a good one, or are there signs of trouble?  I hope investigators are asking these questions and looking into all possibilities and not just looking at this case as another adult wanting a break from their life.  


Although, hoping she did take the children on a weekend trip, because the alternatives will not give as positive an outcome.

Caroline Thomas is described as black, about 5 feet 2 inches tall, 125 pounds with light brown hair. She was last seen wearing capri pants and a multi-colored, flower-pattern blouse. Both children are also black.

UPDATE

OKLAHOMA CITY -- Oklahoma City police said a mother called to reassure them that she was unharmed.

Investigators said they began looking for Caroline Thomas last Friday after Thomas' common law husband returned to the home to find the house empty.

Oklahoma City police said Thomas is fine and she has called dispatch to "get her name off TV."

She has also called family to say she is OK.

Marita G. Talley and Three Children Missing From Milwaukee: FOUND SAFE

As reported from the blogs, Black and Missing but Not Forgotten and LostNMissing, a young mother and her three children are missing from Milwaukee, WI.  The mother, Marita G. Talley, and her three children, Dwight, Mary, and Mariah Turner were last seen at her home on November 6 and reported missing by family members on November 10, 4 days later.

Marita Talley is 26 years old, her son, Dwight 7, daughter Mary, 5 and daughter Mariah, 1.


News reports are not giving very many details on the circumstances of the disappearance, other than Marita Talley has some medical issues which are concerning to authorities.

UPDATE:

A Milwaukee woman and her three children who were reported missing last week left the city voluntarily and have been found safe outside Wisconsin, a police spokeswoman said Wednesday.

On Monday, the Milwaukee Police Department had requested the public's help in finding Marita G. Talley and her children.

Talley's family reported her missing Nov. 10. They became concerned because they had not heard from her since seeing her Nov. 6.

Photos of Talley and her children were posted on electronic billboards throughout the Milwaukee area this week.

The Police Department did not disclose Wednesday where Talley was found.

A Mother, Friend and 2 Children Vanished From Ohio: FOUND

Tina Herrmann and Stephanie Sprang, along with two of Herrmann's children, Kody and Sarah Maynard,  remain missing from the small Ohio town of Howard in Knox County.

When Tina Herrmann didn't report for work for two days, a co-worker went to the home to check on her as her boyfriend reported her missing.  Investigators say an unusual amount of blood was found inside the home, causing them to believe there is a possibility of foul play.

Herrmann's abandoned vehicle was found on the campus of Kenyon College and precipitated a precautionary  lockdown of the liberal arts college on the premise there may be someone dangerous on the campus.  Sprang's vehicle was found in the garage at Herrmann's home.

Investigations continue on the ground by several agencies hoping to connect the dots and find evidence that would lead to the discovery of where the four missing persons may be.  Investigators are in the process of constructing a timeline of events as well as focusing on the personal lives, as well as credit card and phone records of Herrmann and Sprang.  As of this writing no activity has appeared for either woman.

The amount of blood found in the home has authorities concerned:

"Someone was obviously injured in the house," Barber said. "The reason there is a focus on the blood is because there is an unusual about of blood in that house. It isn't from someone stubbing they're toe or cutting they're finger while peeling an apple."

 As friends and neighbors in the small town continue to cooperate and aid the search efforts, authorities are asking them to keep an optimistic attitude about the outcome and for anyone with information to come forth.

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio — A sheriff says "there is a possibility" that three people still missing in central Ohio have been killed.

3 Bodies found in Ohio are kidnap rescue Sarah Maynard's missing mother, brother, friend

"Today this investigation took a major turn," he said. "We have discovered and recovered the remains of Kody Maynard, Stephanie Sprang, and Tina Herrmann."

Barber said the bodies were discovered "as a result of information provided by Matthew Hoffman" around 2:30 p.m. on Thursday.

"The bodies were located in a wooded area inside of garbage bags in a hollow tree," he said. "One thing's for sure, is he's had some experience as a tree trimmer."

Prosecutor John C. Thatcher said he could not confirm if Hoffman had given a confession, but called the discovery "the saddest day in Knox County history."

Hawaii is a paradise to many who visit and back in 1977, before the world became a smaller place, it was a faraway land of surfing and beautiful beaches. Charlotte Moriarty and her boyfriend, Mark Barnes, along with their new son, Marx, were living in that paradise land, but was it really paradise?

Charlotte and Marx vanished on June 21, 1977 while taking a walk. The child's stroller was found empty hours later at a bus stop in Honolulu. According to Mark Barnes, Charlotte left with no explanation before and he just figured this was another one of those times. He waited 2 weeks before calling police and filing a missing persons report.

"Friendly couple, mind their own business. They used to fight but it wasn't anything serious," said 77-year-old Hanaimoa resident Joe Kahele. "I know they had a baby, and they used to take good care of the baby."

Charlotte had an 8 year old daughter from a previous relationship who was scheduled to come for a visit from California to see her mother and new brother, however that visit didn't happen. Her sister, Patricia, and other family members feel that Charlotte would never jeopardize this visit by taking off, and that she would definitely be in contact with her family to let them know of her plans.

"I can't explain what it's like to not know where a parent is," said Monnheimer, who was 8 years old when Moriarty disappeared. "You're always looking, always scanning every crowd."

There are several points of conflicting information to come out of the case since 1977, one being that Mark Barnes was fearful that Charlotte wasn't capable of taking care of Marx because she was under the care of a psychiatrist. Most of the information about the disappearance has come from Barnes himself and has been disputed by Charlotte's family members for years.

The case is still regarded as an open investigation. Patricia Moriarty has even consulted psychics who state that Charlotte and Marx are both dead and that they were murdered. There is no way to prove this theory, but the family has taken measures to have Charlotte and Marx declared dead on the suggestion of Honolulu Police Department Missing Persons Division. Her daughter, Jennifer Monnheimer,  always held this belief, and the psychics reinforced that for her.

Monnheimer said even if she and her aunt are unsuccessful finding Charlotte and Marx, at least they will know they did everything they could.

"For years the search never ended, it never stopped," said Monnheimer, who at 32 is a year older than her mother was when she disappeared. "But by then I guess I'll have to find a way to go on with my life."

Mark Barnes went on with his life, remarrying and divorcing in California. No charges were ever filed against him.

Take a look at Mystic (pronounced Mystique) Dawn Salazar. She may very well be in your neighborhood but all is not well with this poor little girl. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children list her as missing by way of "family abduction." Her biological father, Enrique Arreolo-Lopez and his wife Melissa snatched her from a stable family environment to a life on the run. It all went down in Mesa County, Colorado on August 17. That's the last day Jennifer Davis, the woman Mystic knows as "mom" saw the 6-year-old. Complicated and convoluted doesn't begin to explain the young girl's life. She was born May 23, 2002. Her mother Twalla is the ex-wife of Jennifer's husband Amie. According to Jennifer, Twalla made an arrangement with Enrique after getting out of prison to get pregnant with the hopes of getting Amie back into her life--a "no strings attached" bio dad. Twalla did get pregnant but her attempt at getting Amie back didn't work. At the same time, Jennifer was also pregnant. She arranged her pre-natal visits around Twalla's so she could drive her to and from the doctors. When Mystic was born, Twalla brought her directly to Jennifer. While Twalla didn't give up custody, she would frequently bring the baby over to be cared for by Jennifer and Amie, who assumed the dad role in her life. Two years later, Twalla's parole ended and, according to Jennifer, started to disappear for stretches of time. "She'd drop her off in the morning and say she'd be back after work to pick Mystic up and then we wouldn't see her for days or weeks. In April 2007, I got a call from Twalla saying she had been arrested and was in jail. Mystic had been living with us full time the past 4 months." At the time, Mystic was 4 and Twalla had already signed over power of attorney's to us giving us guardianship for 6 month periods of time. And then she'd disappear. But we never thought twice because to us, Mystic is family, she's our daughter." Twalla remained in jail for 6 months. "When she was released, we filed a petition for custody with the courts. Twalla had been arrested for aggrevated assault and we couldn't have Mystic living in that environment. At that point, we didn't know the bio dad's name. We knew nothing about him. Twalla said that her arrangement with him was to get her pregnant and that he'd never be a part of Mystic's life. She also said he had been deported to Mexico. When we filed the petition, we found out he hadn't been deported and was still working at the restaurant where he met Twalla. This man, of course, is Enrique Arreolo-Lopez and he was married and had a son. In fact, Twalla filed a child support petition against him and was collecting thousands while Mystic was in the care of Jennifer and Amie. Eventhough he was paying, Enrique never tried to see Mystic." In February 2008, Jennifer and Amie went before a judge for the first time to get custody. "The judge granted Twalla visitation which included 2 hours for lunch and 2 hours for dinner 'at her discretion'. Enrique was to have no contact with Mystic until he had parenting introduction therapy. After that, if he chose to see Mystic, it had to be during a supervised therapeutic session. A legal representative was appointed to the child by the judge." In April, Mystic met Enrique for the first time--an hour and a half session with a therapist. "For some reason, the therapist found it necessary to include Twalla in the session, but I was not allowed to be in the building," Jennifer said. There were three other sessions and then the counselor agreed to allow unsupervised visits. "On the very first unsupervised visit with Enrique, they brought Mystic home wrapped in a fleece coat wearing a t-shirt and nothing else. They said she peed her pants during the visit. As they (Enrique and his wife, Melissa) were taking her out of the car in front of our house, with neighbors standing around, Melissa yelled, 'Maybe next time we can have a change of clean clothes in case she pees herself again.' Mystic looked mortified." Enrique would take Mystic for about 9 hours on Sundays. "When she'd come home, she'd be withdrawn and would get aggressive with the other kids," Jennifer said. In all likelihood, Mystic Salazar is relatively safe. This is not a high profile missing children's case like Caylee Anthony in Florida. But relatively safe and safe are two different things. Mystic was abducted by her biological father--a man who had nothing to do with her for most of her life. And Jennifer Davis, the woman Mystic knows as mom is trying desperately to find her. While a judge says Mystic should be with Jennifer and her husband Amie in Mesa County, Colorado, law enforcement disagrees. Why? Because the bio dad, Enrique Arreolo-Lopez fled before he was served with the legal papers. And no one knows where he is. The courts did grant Enrique and his wife Melissa visitation rights and those visits affected 6-year-old Mystic. "She would have nightmares after visits," Jennifer said. "She'd come into our room and crawl into bed with us. And that was not typical of Mystic. Sometimes she'd come home after a visit and was starving." At just 3'3 and 35 pounds, Jennifer said Mystic typically "eats like a bird." "On two different occasions, she came back from 9 hour visits saying she didn't eat at all. She said it was because her other daddy said there wasn't enough money for food today." Following those visits, Mystic would come home and eat as much as she usually ate in a day in one sitting. She was that hungry. "We would tell the counselor this and telling him something wasn't right. Instead the counselor pushed for more visits. Another counselor pushed for Mystic to spend Labor Day Weekend with Enrique. Enrique had been providing the counselor with pictures of a smiling Mystic. We saw the pictures and pointed out they were from Chucky Cheese. What child isn't going to have a good time there? Another picture was at her birthday party where she was given a lot of gifts. We pointed out to the counselor that they were the Disneyland parents. They get to come in and do all the fun stuff for one day. But they don't deal with the day to day life." It would get worse. "Shortly before they took her, she came home from a visit with a red mark across her throat. This was during a visit they weren't supposed to have. They showed up unannounced at Mystic's baseball game and freaked her out. She started screaming and crying. She told Amie she didn't want to go, holding onto him. Enrique and Melissa were trying to force her to go. So we compromised. We asked Mystic if it would be ok if they all had lunch together. After lunch I walked Mystic over to Enrique's car and told her it would be ok and to go have fun with daddy. Later that afternoon, when they returned her to us, she had what looked like a ligature mark across her throat. I asked her what happened and she said, 'mommy, I don't know.' She said she forgot. You could tell she was real shy about it. I called Enrique when Mystic was out of earshot and Melissa answered the phone. She wouldn't let me talk to him. I asked her what happened and she said Mystic didn't have that mark when she was dropped off. We took pictures and gave them to the counselor and the attorneys involved with her case. Nothing happened." In early August, the attorney assigned to Mystic came to Jennifer and Amie's for a home visit. While he was there, Twalla showed up to pick up Mystic for lunch. The attorney told her that she could only take Mystic for lunch but not dinner because it was too much for her. "When Twalla brought Mystic back after lunch she said she would be back for dinner," Jennifer said. "When I reminded her what the attorney said, she cussed me out and said I screwed up and would never see Mystic again. The next day, Enrique had his visit with Mystic. Things were kind of weird because they showed up in a new vehicle--a minivan. When they dropped her off at our meeting place near a grocery store, they pulled around to a gas station and left their van near the pumps where we couldn't see it. They walked Mystic across the parking lot to me. The very next weekend, August 17, Mystic freaked out while I tried to get her ready to go for her weekly visit. She was screaming and crying and refused to get into the shower. She cried the whole way from our house to the store where we were meeting Enrique. The visit was supposed to be from 9:30 to 5:30. I showed up at 9:20 and we sat there waiting. I sat in the back of our van with Mystic holding her because she was crying. I was trying to reassure her that she would go and have fun. At 9:45, I decided to pull away figuring Enrique wasn't going to show. Then I had second thoughts because I thought that if I prevented the visit, we'd lose Mystic. So I stopped and waited for about another 10-15 minutes. Then Enrique came walking up with his son Manuel. There was no vehicle in sight. He said Melissa was at the counselor's signing papers. I had to literally pry Mystic's arms off of me because she was screaming that she didn't want to go. Enrique walked away with her and Mystic turned back to me a yelled, 'mommy, I love you can I have a hug?' Enrique let her give me a hug and I told her I loved her and that when she came home, we'd get ready for her first day of school the next day. They walked away and that was the last time I've seen her." That night, Jennifer returned to the meeting place to pick up Mystic. She waited from 5:25 until 7:55. "I waited. I didn't leave that spot. I called Enrique's phone and it went straight to voicemail. I called the attorney and the counselor emergency number. I finally got a call back from the counselor's business partner and she said the counselor had been out of town for the past couple of days. What we found out later was that Melissa had dropped off her two children with their dad because he had custody. He said when she dropped them off, the van they were driving was loaded down with their stuff. They told him they were moving to Texas and they'd be back every 6 weeks to see the kids. She said she was going to nursing school. We also found out that although she had been telling people she was a nurse and worked in a doctors' office, she was, in fact, a receptionist, not a nurse. We also found out she had been arrested 10 years ago for shoplifting and using her children to do it which is why she lost custody." The Mesa County Sheriff's Office doesn't think a crime was committed. "They said, because Enrique is her biological father, he has every right to have her. When we showed them the minute orders from court, the deputy asked me 'how do I know you didn't type that up on your own computer?' I couldn't believe it. There was a possible sighting of Mystic in town back in September. When I called the sheriff's office, they said there was no crime and they couldn't do anything. Mystic's court appointed attorney won't return our calls." Two days after Enrique vanished with Mystic, the court issued an order that authorizes law enforcement to turn Mystic over to Jennifer and Amie if she's found and granting legal custody to them. "Law enforcement here in town say it's not valid," Jennifer said. "Because Enrique hasn't been served with it." Enrique, as you recall, fled town and no one knows where he is. So, a technicality, and lack of common sense is keeping Mystic on the run. Jennifer, Amie and her family aren't sitting back. They are doing all they can trying to overcome the law enforcement obstacles and trying to find their little girl. Without the help of police makes it that much more difficult. How on earth can someone NOT be looking for this darling child?  We are trying to get updates about this child from the authorities in Maryland to see if he has at least been given a name and a family.  If anyone knows a way to expedite this process, please step up.  I will try to post any updates that we hear about him.

Tekenya Has Been Found, Now What?

Little 12 year old Tekenya Wooten was found in Durham, NC yesterday after being listed as a "runaway" from a group home. While I am relieved that she is alive, I question whether she is safe. In fact there are now more questions to be answered than yesterday when all we wanted to know was "where is she?" While making my way across the internet from blog to blog to gather information about Tekenya, I noticed so much concern for her well being, not only from missing persons sites, but from sites on a variety of subjects, and I learned a lot along the way. Thank you to all of the bloggers who banded together, black and white, to put pressure on the authorities to find her quickly, not that I am being critical of the authorities, but would they have reacted as strongly if we hadn't made the effort? Would the outcome for Tekenya have been the same?

I learned from Renee about the inequality that still runs rampant in our country and that poor little black girls are often victimized and somehow it is justified in the minds of the abusers. It is a known fact, not often discussed in the mainstream, that the

re is a definite racial divide when it comes to reporting and searching for minorities who are missing.

"This is not reason to let down our guard as the issue still remains how something like this could have happened and been completely ignored by the mainstream press. Black children are worth something and their disappearances need to get more coverage"

I learned from Gina how one woman became actively aware of the situation with Tekenya, spent her day making calls, gathering information and disseminating it on her blog for all of us to take from there and report back to our own readers. Gina taught us all how to not take no for an answer and to persevere until you reach the person who has the answers. I also learned that it's not ok to read these stories of horror and not do something about the situation. Sometimes it only takes one move in the right direction to make a difference.

I learned from Peas in Their Pods about the "Rilya Alert", which is based on the Amber Alert, but bridges the gap for black children who may not meet the criteria for an Amber Alert. Her site is proactive in helping all women and men realize the value of their children and stepping in for them when no one else will do it.

I learned from Deidra, who has tirelessly blogged about missing blacks for quite some time. If it weren't for her efforts so many of these people would become forgotten faces on a missing person's flyer. Her site is a wealth of information to all involved in bringing awareness to the missing.

I learned from Villager and the "Lakeesha Alert" system of the disparity of coverage of missing black children.

hyper-sonic signals to urban radio stations, online communities, urban newspapers, bloggers, street gang members ... and on the outside chance that they’re not too busy and might display a casual interest ... the police and mainstream media.

I learned from my own members at Peace4 the Missing that when the call goes out, we all come together for the cause. We are known throughout as being the group that "gits it done"! When a family member comes to us for help, we respond. When someone brings us a new case, we respond. We may not have all the answers but we do have resources and people to turn to for help. People like Susan Murphy Milano and the Justice Interrrupted Team. Groups like Project Jason and Porchlight International. Sites like Help Find the Missing and Websleuths.

There are many, many people that tried to find and disperse the information about Tekenya the last few days, and I'm sure I don't know who all of them are. I would like to personally thank you all.

But now, for the burning question of the day....."Now What"? What is going to become of the little 12 year old pregnant Tekenya Wooten? I have read, and felt myself, that there must be something we can do for this child. There must be something we can do to let her know that there are so many who truly care for her, for her well being and the well being of her unborn child. Where does she go from here? Where will she live and how on earth will she take care of that child?

If you have any suggestions, please let them be known. I read around, as you all know, and I will help gather the information needed and do my best to somehow let Tekenya know we all care.

Tekenya Wooten, 12 Year Old Mother-to-Be, Missing

Rightly so, the internet is all abuzz over the fact that this young girl is missing and not enough exposure is being given to her case. She does not meet the "criteria" for an Amber Alert because she is apparently a habitual run away and was living in a group home at the time she went missing. As of this morning we don't know why she was put into a group home, who and where her family are, and who is the father of her unborn child.

Whatever your feelings about how she got into this situation in the first place, the fact remains she is still a missing child who is about to give birth. That is TWO missing children. The case deserves all of the exposure it can get so that Tekenya Wooten can give birth safely. I just hope that she is indeed "just a runaway teen" and that she is hiding safely with someone who cares about what happens to her.

“I’m concerned that the Durham Police Department has classified Tekenya Wooten as a “run a way” versus “high risk” as a result of this classification, no media outlet will cover her story. This reduces the chances that this young woman will be recovered. The fact that she is 12 years old and the birth of her child is imminent means that not only is this young girl in danger, but so is the life of her child. I am equally disturbed that the police department has done nothing further than take its cue from a group home that has an incentive to classify this child as a “run a way” for administrative purposes. A 100 pound 12-year-old can’t RUN anywhere. Has she been classified in this way because she is poor? Has she been classified this way because she is Black? Has she been classified this way because she is pregnant? Has she been classified this way because she lived in a group home? Why doesn’t the City of Durham think that a 12 year old pregnant child who is missing is not high risk? “

From Staff Reports Comment on this story DURHAM - A pregnant 12-year-old girl who had been missing since Saturday was found this morning in Durham, police said.

Durham police officers found Tekenya Wooten on Gordon Street at about 11:45 a.m. today, according to a news release. She appeared to be unharmed, according to the release.

Wooten was living in a Durham group home that operates as a residential and maternity child care facility. Investigators were treating her disappearance as a runaway case and did not trigger the state's Amber Alert program in this week's search.
